It’s easy to get tangled up in the cares of this world and forget what’s important in life. When we lose sight of the big picture, James reminds us what truly matters: simply the gospel. He challenges us to be “doers of the Word, and not hearers only.” The gospel should define how we think, feel, and act.
In James: Simply the Gospel, John D. Barry guides you through this letter with practical insights and helpful questions. Perfect for studying with a group or with just your favorite Bible, this Bible study will pull you closer to the gospel.

“James helps us look at our lives with a new perspective. He questions everything that we think matters, to show us what is really important: simply the gospel—lived through how we think, feel and act.” (Page 3)
“To be a Christian in this time was beyond inconvenient; it was painful. It always involved being willing to sacrifice everything, including your family, job and even your life.” (Page 8)
“If religion is about practicing one thing, our religion should be about being like Christ. We are called to live according to His desires; we must be led by our relationship with Him. Our lives, and those of others, will continue to be in shambles until we begin to live for the purpose of helping and loving other people. It’s such a simple idea, which is precisely why it’s part of Christ’s gospel.” (Page 21)
“Like the stock market, returns on relationships are proportionate to what you’re willing to risk” (Page 61)
“Many of us have fallen victim to the notion that life is just a series of pursuits” (Page 3)
